Domestic violence does not just stop because of a crisis like the one we are currently facing. In fact, when stressors increase, violence and abuse can quickly escalate. For many victims, staying at home means being isolated with someone who is harming them. It is in these very trying times that a victim needs 180 even more, and we are determined to be there for anyone who needs our services. We have made a few temporary shifts to some of our services, but 180 is operational and here to help.

In anticipation that the state will relax restaurants restrictions in the near future, the Freehold Township Committee has passed a resolution to simplify the process for restaurant owners to quickly and easily apply for seasonal outdoor dining permits through the Zoning Office and expansions to their alcohol consumption areas through the Clerk’s Office. This resolution will take effect immediately to help these small businesses continue their operations under the orders of the governor and to maintain public safety while doing so.
The following actions have been taken in support of continuing and expanding business operations within the Township:
1. The Zoning Officer will implement an abbreviated and emergency application process for businesses to utilize outdoor areas.
2. The Zoning Officer will approve temporary and emergency zoning permissions to conduct the required operations outdoors, in parking areas, grass areas and drives, so long as they are consistent with the safety of the public.
3. The Zoning Officer will consult with Township Engineer, Township Administrator, Police Chief and Health Officer to ensure consistency with his determination of safety.
4. The Township Clerk is authorized, upon consultation with the Police Chief, to approve expansions for alcohol beverage consumption areas through the state system, should the State promulgate the appropriate rules.

There are upcoming adjustments to our current zoning laws that will change the landscape of our hometown. These changes are not desired by or at the behest of your local government but are the result of strong-armed tactics by our State Courts, land developers and others who want to dictate the look and feel of communities across the State. It is important to understand, these changes are being driven by people who will never live, work, or visit here and /or will significantly profit from these changes.
In an effort to continue to provide services to our residents, while protecting both our employees and the public, the Freehold Township Police Department has determined that we must make some temporary changes to the procedure for picking up Firearms ID Cards / Handgun Permits.
Issuance of vital records - If constituents need their vital records during the emergency, and the local office is closed, they can be referred to the State for the issuance of their records. They can either mail in their orders to this address:

Effective immediately recycling will no longer be accepted at the curbside in plastic bags. Recyclables must be loose in a container no larger than 30 gallons without a lid. This rule has been in effect for several years and is now being strictly enforced. Monmouth County and the State of New Jersey has also had this in effect for several years. The bags contaminate the recycling at the end market and can cause damage to the equipment.
Freehold Township appreciates your cooperation during this change.
The Freehold Township Recycling Center is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.
